Cisco Retires the Cisco Unified Call Manager Path

It wasn't too long ago when Cisco updated its Cisco Certified Voice Professional certification, allowing candidates to choose from two different tracks (Cisco Unified Call Manager and Cisco Unified Communications Manager). Now that December 31 st , 2009 has come and gone, so too has the Cisco Unified Call Manager path. CCVP candidates will need to adjust their Cisco training to match the new requirements.

Back when there were two tracks, CCVP candidates could choose to specialize in either voice technology. The Cisco Unified Call Manager path required the successful passage of five certification exams (Quality of Service, Cisco Voice over IP, Troubleshooting Cisco Unified Communication Systems, Cisco IP Telephony Part 1 and Part 2, and Implementing Cisco Voice Gateways and Gatekeepers). The Cisco Unified Communications Manager path currently requires passing five exams, three of which you'll recognize from the Unified Call Manager track. These exams are: Quality of Service, Cisco Voice over IP, Troubleshooting Cisco Unified Communications Systems, Implementing Cisco Unified Communications Manager Part 1, and Implementing Cisco Unified Communications Manager Part 2.

Since the Cisco IP Telephony Part 1 and Part 2 and the Implementing Cisco Voice Gateways and Gatekeepers exams have been retired as of December 31, 2009, CCVP candidates that were previously on the Unified Call Manager path that did not complete these exams in time must switch gears and pass the Implementing Cisco Unified Communications Manager exams (part 1 and 2) in order to earn their CCVP certification.

The growing field of IP telephony is fueling demand for voice professionals. IT professionals with the CCVP credential have the skills needed to work with Cisco voice technologies and a credential that sets them apart from other job candidates. Get your Cisco voice career off to a terrific start by enrolling in CCVP or CCNA training.
