Microsoft Windows 7 Will Have XP Downgrade Option

windows 7

Whenever a new software application release reaches the general consumer public, most individuals upgrade to the new version. There are those individuals who wait it out, and decide to watch the rumor mills. Is the latest version stable? What issues are hindering the new software? There are those who simply refuse to accept any release of a 1.0 application, and choose to upgrade after all of the initial bugs and 'undocumented features' have been ironed out. Others don't want to spend the finances to upgrade their older hardware in order to accept the new software without compatibility problems due to antiquated drivers and systems.

To the relief of the general public, a spokesperson from Microsoft has stated users of Windows 7 will have the option to revert back to XP if they do not prefer the newer operating system.

The spokesperson has been quoted as saying, "This is not the first time that Microsoft has offered downgrade rights to a version other than its immediate predecessor and our Software Assurance customers can always downgrade to any previous version of Windows." Microsoft has agreed to extend the obtainability of Windows XP for devices such as netbooks, as far as one entire year past the release date of Windows 7.

Free support for XP has ended, although paid support for exists for XP for the hardy individuals not ready to convert. Users who decide to downgrade to XP will be eligible for free Windows 7 upgrades through the Windows 7 Upgrade Option program.

Windows 7 has proven to be an extremely stable, reliable operating system compared to Windows Vista. Applications that do fail no longer take the entire system with them in the 'Blue Screen of Death'. Application failure is self-contained within the application in question, while the rest of the system remains operational. Power management, memory usage and release, device management, application swapping, the new interface, the battery saving capabilities, improved security, tighter integration, better administration control and many other numerous features and functionality make this the best Windows to reach the public and enterprise environment since XP.
